If you have already AutoCAD or AutoCAD Lite from AutoDesk, you can view and edit the .dwg files. If you do not have AutoCAD or another .dwg viewer, here in the downloads links section you can find the installation file for eDrawings, a free file viewer from SolidWorks Corp. This program allows you to view .dwg , and .dxf files. It has great functionality for a free program. You will be able to view the data and run the sample projects directly from the CD, but the performance will be much better if you copy the data to your local hard drive. If you do copy the CD to your hard drive, you should maintain the existing directory structure, because the sample dwg projects are pointing to specific directories looking for specific files. In order to fit all of the data on the CD, some of the shapefiles have been compressed in zip files and placed in the \GIS\Shapes\Zips subdirectory. After you have copied the data to your hard drive, unzip these vector files and copy them to the subdirectory so that the sample project will know where to find them.
